7 Body-Slimming Foods to Keep in Your Fridge

byy RealBeauty.com

If you're trying to keep your waistline in check this summer, fill your fridge with snacks that satisfy and slim. Here, nutritionist Robyn Flipse, M.S., R.D., shares her suggestions for the best foods to help you lose weight and get bikini-ready.

Melons
Throughout the summer, stock up on an array of seedless watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew to cube and have on hand when you feel the urge to "pick." Their high moisture content dilutes the calories per serving and provides you with more water — a great way to hydrate and feel fuller sooner.

Fat-Free Yogurt
Protein-rich dairy foods have been shown to aid in weight loss, so try starting your day with a yogurt parfait. Layer your favorite fat-free yogurt (try f-- e 0%, which is thick and super-creamy) with berries and crushed nuts or granola. Bonus tip: This makes a great dessert, too!

Summer Vegetables
You'll benefit from keeping vegetables such as zucchini, yellow squash, and red, green, and orange peppers on hand to make meals more flavorful and filling, with fewer calories. Use them in wraps or to fill out pasta dishes, serve them as a side dish, or keep it simple and pile them high on a plate sprinkled with freshly grated cheese.

Low-Fat Dips, Dressings, and Spreads
Potentially dangerous food fatigue is brought on by eating boring food. A varied selection of low-fat dips and dressings will keep your taste buds stimulated and make it easier to get those five servings a day of fruits and vegetables down. Try any of the Sabra Mediterranean dips, spicy salsas, or a yogurt-based dressing!
Hint: Try a spicy wasabi dip for veggies, or a sweet yogurt and sugar-free jam dip for fruit!

Rotisserie-Cooked Turkey or Chicken Breast
Keep a Tupperware container filled with precooked chicken or turkey breast in easy reach. These are convenient sources of protein that keep your blood sugar from dipping and your appetite from rising. Eat them cold or reheated; sliced, diced, or cut into strips; alone or on salads and in fajitas.

Mini Versions of Your Favorite Drinks
Just because you're cutting back on calories doesn't mean you have to cut out everything you love. Just look for smaller-sized versions of your favorite drinks. For soda lovers, Coca-Cola offers a new 90-calorie Coca-Cola Mini can as an option.

Water, Water, Water
When you're trying to lose weight and exercising more, water should become your new best friend, but it's not always easy to drink the required eight glasses a day. Experiment with calorie-free flavored waters like Vitaminwater zero. They can satisfy your taste buds and keep you hydrated on your way to the beach!

Were pounds added to this cover model's photo? Is this such a bad thing?

We live in a time when I think most of us assume almost everything is airbrushed. Those six-pack abs, that perfect skin, hands, the no-trace-of-cellulite thighs? Airbrushed, airbrushed, completely airbrushed. In fact, I am hoping someone can airbrush me as I'm walking into my high school reunion this summer.

What we're used to seeing—and being skeptical of—are the smaller, skinnier, more muscular, and less wrinkled versions of people who've come under the digital magic wand. What's new is a report that airbrushing has made a body in the spotlight look bigger.

This might just be the case with the cover model for the April issue of Healthy magazine, a U.K.-based publication.

Reports say that the image of Kamilla Wladyka, a 5-foot 10-inch tall Polish model with a modeling card that lists her as being a size six and having a 24-inch waist, was altered to make her appear to be bigger than she actually is.

The editor of Healthy mag, Jane Druker, told the Daily Mail that the cover shot was modified to make her look healthier. Druker went on tsay that approximately a half-stone--that's seven pounds to us—as added to the model's body to align with the magazine's mission to promote health and well-being.

Druker said wardrobe was considered when it became apparent that Wladyka showed up to set looking thinner than she appeared when she was cast for the cover.

"There were plenty of clothes that we couldn't put on her because her bones stuck out too much," Druker commented. "She looked beautiful in the face, but really thin and unwell. That's not a reflection of what we do in our magazine, which is about good health."
There are a few important issues to raise with this story. First, it ran in the Daily Mail, not necessarily regarded as one of the most reliable sources. And even if it were, the paper's headline that reads "Skinny model is airbrushed to make her look FATTER on front cover of magazine" (their emphasis, not mine) is not only insulting, it is inaccurate. The before shot shows a model who is, yes, incredibly and possibly unhealthily thin. The cover shot also shows a model who is incredibly and possibly unhealthily thin. There is nothing at all that could in anyway be regarded as fat or even FATTER about the pictures in question.

To confirm the story and the situation, I tried multiple times to get in touch with Healthy magazine. The publishers forwarded me to a PR agency, where I was told that the contact for the magazine was on holiday until May 25. In a follow-up call, the agency did say that they would call me back as soon as they found someone on staff who could speak to the issue. We'll update this post if we hear from the agency.

Although I quite appreciate the polite recording thanking me for "kindly holding in queue" on the overseas call, I'd love to hear what the real people who answer the phone have to say about Wladyka's cover of Healthy magazine. Honestly, I might even thank them for adding a few pounds and acknowledging that healthier may not necessarily equal bony and clearly far smaller than a size six.
This leads me to the other issue—the information on Wladyka's modeling card. You only have to watch one episode of "Kell on Earth" or survive a five-minute screeching interview with Janice Dickinson to know that models are marketing themselves on their model cards, not necessarily transcribing their true measurements. In a time (now) and country (England) where size zero models are being criticized and potentially banned from catwalks and covers for furthering unhealthy and potentially fatal images of beauty, a model saying she is a size six seems like it's just one more assurance of job security.

No matter what size Wladyka says she is or what size she appears to be on Healthy, another quote in the Daily Mail piece needs to be highlighted. This one is from Gerard Chevalier, who, according to the Daily Mail, is a psychotherapist and former fashion photographer. He countered Druker's comments that approximately seven pounds was added to the image of the model. In a debate organized by a model management company during which Druker explained the retouched cover, Chevalier says the editor told him that two to three stone were really added. That would mean that the model's body was enhanced by 28 to 42 pounds, and that is just not believable. Although I am sure that this model would look gorgeous wearing 30 or more pounds on her 6-foot frame, I think it would be a pretty noticeable change in comparison to her bikini pics.

Whether Druker confided in Chevalier, whether the weight was really added, whether the model is a size zero or six, we may never know. I think we can safely say that the sensationalized headline is out of line and that the move for women to look truly healthier and a bit heavier on magazine covers is a positive for all of us reading, looking, and applying those images to our own bodies, scales, and mirrors.

I'd love to know what really went on with that cover. But for now, until my phone rings or I get my next copy of Vanity Fair in the mail, I think making models look more real and fed is worth it's weight in stones.

Questions to Ask Yourself Before Swimsuit Shopping

Freaked out about fitting in your bikini? Don’t be. Just read these amazing tips to look hotter in your swimsuit. No diet required!

1) If you know you're going to hit the beach the next day or you have a pool party planned, apply some self-tanner the night before. Focus primarily on the outer and inner sides of your thighs and your tummy area. You'll want to shower in the morning so that you're fresh, but the subtle, extra color will make you more confident.

Don’t miss Cosmo’s Practice Safe Sun campaign! From uncovering misleading tactics used by tanning salons to supporting national legislation aimed at regulating the indoor-tanning industry, we’ve got everything you need to know to stay protected from skin cancer.

2) Instead of rushing to lay down your towel on the beach, take a couple extra minutes to discreetly dig a little hole (you can use your foot) in the shape of a large bowl. Then place your towel over the area and slide your bum in that secret spot. So sneaky, but so effective!

3) Avoid the stuff that makes you puff. This includes but is not limited to caffeine, alcohol, salt, and dairy. Instead of kicking back at the pool with a soda or an ice cream cone, stay hydrated and nourished with water, fruit, and veggies.

4) One word: Sarongs. They are versatile enough to use as a cover-up for just your bottom or as a little dress for more coverage. Choose one with a sheer fabric to keep the style looking seductive, not shy.
It is your guy that needs to slim down?

5) Good posture can create the illusion that you're several pounds thinner than when you're slouching. So keep your shoulders down and think about trying to bring your shoulder blades closer together. This will automatically push your chest out and you'll feel the urge to lift your chin too.

Beauty Tips

Erase those pimples, discoloration and blemishes.
Simple steps will make a big difference.

1.  Clean face before going to bed.
(Never ever, as in WARNING!  Don't close your eyes without washing your face, it will make your face look dull in the morning and just like in a horror movies, craters will appear)
2.  Use the right cleanser, toner and moisturizer.  Beauty products will work best on a right skin.
3.  Read and understand.  When you buy products, be sure you know the content and the expiry date.  Some  contents will harm your skin.

Extra Tip:  When you don't want to wear eyeshadow, moisturizer is the remedy.
-  Do not put powder or foundation on your eyes.  Moisturizer has a natural glowing effect which can enhance your eyes.

Robert Downey: Sexiest Man Alive

No offense to Johnny Depp's fan!  But R.Downey really rule the screen.   He has this magnetic power on girls that no one can resist.  From head to toe electricity, physically!  He;s perfect.  As an actor, outstanding!

Review: Iron Man 2 Just Like a Giant-Size Comic Book

Review in a Hurry: It may not pack the same surprise as the first one, but with a half-dozen major characters and subplots, this sequel feels like an actual Marvel comic set in a superheroic universe.

The Bigger Picture: It worked pretty well for Spider-Man's second big-screen outing, so now Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) also gets to face a villain with extended mechanical appendages—Mickey Rourke's Whiplash, who comes across like Doctor Octopus as played by Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises.
And it's ironic: Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, might just have the most believable personality of any onscreen superhero—unlike, say, Bruce Wayne, he actually enjoys his money, power and sex life. But the movies he's in are gradually setting the stage for a plainly unreal world, one in which many heroes exist and have different agendas.
Frankly, it's a refreshing change from your standard superschtick in which the main hero goes through predictable paces in a world where nobody has apparently even conceived of costumed saviors.
So yes, there are big honking references in Iron Man 2 to forthcoming, familiar characters (be sure to sit through the end credits), but they are, so far, just a tasty side dish, as Stark has his plate full not just with Whiplash, but also the corrupt and occasionally inept arms dealer Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell).
Meanwhile, badass supersecret agent Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has an agenda of his own, and it might just involve Stark's sexy new assistant Natalie (Scarlett Johansson).
But none of that matters if Stark can't solve the blood poisoning that his mechanical heart is causing...or beat back the self-destructive impulses that come alongside the threat of death. Not to mention the interference from the U.S. government, who want the Iron Man suit for themselves, and in attempting to get it, test the allegiance of Stark's best pal, Lt. Col. James Rhodes (Don Cheadle, effortlessly replacing Terrence Howard in the role with the tongue-in-cheek opening line, "It's me, I'm here, deal with it").
Also on the in-joke front: Rourke—known for being so attached to his recently deceased pet pooch that he used to insist it appear in all his movies—is here given a bizarre fixation on a pet cockatoo.
Part of the fun of Iron Man 2, directed again by Jon Favreau, is the fact that every single significant role is given to a different powerhouse actor who has fun with it.
For comic book fans, however, the real joy is the way it juggles the various players and developing über-story without excessively pandering to noobs...just like the books that inspired it.
Yes, sometimes there's a bit too much story at the expense of the action. But when was the last time you had that complaint about a big event movie?

The 180—a Second Opinion: Scenes in which a character looks to the sky and yells "NOOOOOOO!" upon learning of somebody's death ought to be banned. Starting the movie wit one sets an unnecessarily worrisome tone.

The LASt Song by Nicholas Sparks

The Last Song

THE LAST SONG
Nicholas Sparks did it again!  His words, never failed to amaze the readers.  And now, another motion picture to hit the screen.
"Sometimes you have to be apart from people you love, but that doesn't make you love them any less. Sometimes it even makes you love theme more"
Seventeen-year-old Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Tybee Island, Georgia. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father ...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer on Tybee Island with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms - first love, the love between parents and children - that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts ...and heal them.
